Churchyard Mapping and Memorial Transcription Work
Saturday 15th July and Saturday 22nd July
Work will hopefully continue this year on mapping and transcribing the churchyard memorials; an on-going task that will take many years to complete. We are grateful to all our volunteers for the many hours spent in the churchyard, gradually producing an up to date, accurate map for locating graves or transcribing the memorials for updating the website burials database. Please let us know if you would like to help. Please turn up at 9.30 on these days.
Churchyard Clear-Up Days – Saturday 15th July and Saturday 22ndJuly.
The volunteer’s main tasks on Saturday 15th July will be to cut the entrance hedge to a manageable height, to weed and water the new hedge saplings and to clear and burn any branches and rubbish piles left from our last clear-up session. For those that prefer less strenuous work there is always a great deal of work to be done in tidying the Church and Annexe front and side borders and to clear the bindweed from the Camellias at the church North windows. We still have four bird boxes and a feeder to site before next year!
So much work to be done and so little time (a spiritual parallel there I think!).
On Saturday 22nd July, it is hoped the team will meet at the church hall to help John Holloway with the cutting and raking of over-grown grass at the back.
Volunteers can come and go as you wish, but work commences at 9 a.m. and finishes at 12.00. Refreshments will be served in the church, church hall or annexe.
If you are interested and would like further details, contact Robin Gosden on 754110 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or just turn up! Look forward to seeing you there.
