St Thomas Award for Christian service in the community and wider society

A few years ago, Bishop Christopher instituted a diocesan award in the name of St Thomas à Becket, patron saint of the cathedral. The award marks notable Christian service in the community and wider society.

We are proud to announce that Hazel Britton, one of our Christ Church family, has been given the award this year.  Hazel was due to visit the cathedral on Sunday 22nd March to receive her award, but with the Government restrictions on church gatherings imposed recently, this is no longer possible.  The Bishop will however be present at the cathedral Evening Prayer service at 6:00pm on Sunday 22nd, and will present the awards to the recipients in their absence.  A service will be held later in the year, when hopefully things will be back to normal, and Hazel will be thanked personally.

The service this coming Sunday (22nd) will be streamed live from the cathedral, when Hazel’s name will be read, and you can watch it by going to the diocesan website. If you would like to watch, the web address is:

Well done Hazel and thank you for all that you do.
